#DigbethStPats is back for 2023!

It’s our favourite time of year – St Patrick’s Day is coming! Here’s a run down of some our favourite events happening in the city from the 12th March.

The Old Crown

Birmingham’s oldest pub. The Old Crown is back with another year of St Patrick’s celebrations! With events taking place from the 8th March right the way up to the 18th March, there is something for everyone to get involved with.

This year, The Old Crown has teamed up with Digbeth events space, The Old Library, to bring Birmingham an even bigger selection of events than usual. The Old Library will play host to talks from the likes of Birmingham historian, Professor Carl Chinn MBE and legendary ex-Villa player, Paul McGrath.

The Old Crown will also see some famous faces throughout the festivities, including Irish post-punk band, Fontaines D.C.! Band members will be heading down to Digbeth on Sunday 12th March for a DJ set, joining in on the “Parade Day’’ celebrations. While the Digbeth St Patricks Day parade will still not be returning due to ongoing road works, the team at The Old Crown will still be marking the occasion!

Co-owner of the pub, Ciaran Healy said: ‘’While we are of course disappointed that the parade won’t be returning to Digbeth this year, we aren’t going to let this dampen our spirits or halt our celebrations. We can’t wait to welcome all those hoping to celebrate to join us for what we are hoping will be our biggest year yet. The irish celebrations will continue in August as well for the second year of Pairc Festival – a new project I have been working on’’

As well as Fontaines D.C., The Old Crown will be hosting a Big Irish Quiz with host, Aideen McQueen, plus live music throughout the week from Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Rihannon and local Irish bands, On The Sesh and Lampa.

Please see below the full programme of events. Tickets for all the events are available to book now over on Design My Night.
