Bread’s Best Bars This August Bank Holiday

It feels like just yesterday we were getting ready for July and now August bank holiday is right around the corner. So, we’ve cherry-picked some of the best bars and events to visit in Birmingham to make the most of your long weekend!

The Juke

Between the 29th and 30th August, The Juke will be teaming up with Bonehead for a burger pop up event on York Road. With Bonehead being renowned for incredible fried chicken and beautiful burgers, it’s sure to be a sought after weekend. ​​Bonehead will serve their usual burgers on the menu with waffle fries, there will also be a tap takeover with Black Iris brewery!

The Night Owl

Sunday 29th August will see The Night Owl’s famed Woodstock-inspired festival, Owlstock, return in true fashion. You can expect live music, DJs, art, record & clothes stalls PLUS Street food from Dining By Dalton throughout the one day event with some notable names making the lineup including Dizzy Lizzy (Thin Lizzy Tribute) and Are You Experienced? (Jimi Hendrix Tribute).

Following on from Owlstock will be The Night Owl’s signature soul and retro club night, Dig?

Lab 11

Bank Holiday weekend can bring out the best in our creativity, in this case Lab 11 will be transforming their venue into a beach with 40 tonnes of sand for their GLAS & AFTA DARK Summer Beach Party! 2 of the biggest parties in the Midlands combine to bring you a HUGE Bank Holiday inner city Beach Party in Birmingham.

The Old Crown

August bank holiday also sees another fun weekend of The Old Crown’s 12 weeks of summer programme, this time with Poolside Strut taking to the decks. Poolside Strut is Deano Ferrino & Andy Watson (DJs). Think 70’s porn star funk mixed with 80’s Miami disco and add a splash of Chicago house all served up to strut.

Kings Heath’s favourite live music venue will be hosting their Common People indie disco for a bank holiday special with DJs playing the best of 80s, 90s, and 00s indie for all you nostalgia freaks!
